  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 shallots, finely diced
  • 2 jalapeños, finely diced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sauté the shallots and jalapeños in a skillet over medium heat until softened.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until crumbly.
  5. Stir in buttermilk and honey along with the sautéed vegetables and goat cheese until just combined.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface; shape into a rectangle about an inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Place on a lined baking sheet; brush with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
