  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • Candy melts for decoration
  • Candy eyes for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time. Gradually add the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and chill dough for at least 2 hours.
  6. Scoop mounds of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until edges are set but centers are slightly underbaked.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet briefly before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, decorate with melted candy melts and candy eyes.
