  • 3 cups (720ml) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1g) paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 pound (225g) lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • 1/2 pound (225g) cooked small shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
  • Optional: chopped parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and celery until softened (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic for another minute.
  2. Sprinkle in flour while stirring constantly to create a roux; cook for 2 minutes.
